The City of Kelowna council will be reviewing a rezoning application for a property on Glenmore Drive. If approved, the development would see a new six-storey apartment building constructed at 1064-1084 Glenmore Drive.

Project Details

  • The development is proposed by Lake Edge Developments and represented by Lime Architecture.
  • The building would offer 67 units with a mix of one, two, and three bedrooms.
  • A rooftop amenity space is planned, featuring a dining and lounge area, fire pit, barbecue area, and landscaping.
  • Parking will include 70 vehicle spaces with three designated for visitors.
  • Additionally, the development will provide 50 bicycle parking spaces.
  • Access to the parkade will be from a laneway off Highland Drive.

Why is the Rezoning Needed?

The current zoning for the property (MF1 - Infill Housing) does not allow for a six-storey apartment building. The rezoning application seeks to change the zoning to MF3 - Apartment Housing zone, which would permit this type of development.

City Staff Recommendation

City staff is recommending approval of the rezoning application. Their reasoning includes:

  • Alignment with the Official Community Plan's future land-use designation for the area.
  • Location on a transit supportive corridor.
  • Proximity to schools and parks.

Kelowna City Council will review the application on Monday, May 27th, 2024.
